Stylistic choice. But really was Burton that different? I spoke to a huge Batman fan at work. He hates these films.

I’m a HUGE Batman fan as well and I see it as a work more like Dark Knight Return ( an Elseworld ) and it’s great.
Is it a good take on the character( Your TERMINATED Wooww great writting… sorry off topic ) but it’s not a good interpretation of what Batman is on a monthly comic.

Like I said, it’s a point of contention. It’s meant to call back somewhat to old TV series, which fans of the “Dark Knight” viewpoint hold in a great deal of contempt. Burton, for his part, called back more to the film noir aspect of the Detective Comics. Personally, I feel both points of view are valid and equally enjoyable on their own merits.
They are very theraputic.
