And the other way too. They came out about the same time, and fans of each claim the other show stole the idea.

Note for the noobs:
The alien makeup and prosthetics will look different next week.
There was a lag between this movie and the series, and changes were made.
Just accept it. 
I love arcy goodness. The alien makeup is cool too.
Very advanced for its time. A lot hasn’t aged well, of course.
Keep in mind, this CG was state of the art when it was done.
At least they changed it at the beginning instead of in the middle like some shows (Andromeda)
It was groundbreaking when it came out.
Amiga had to work hard.
All of it for the better IMO.

The alien he’s talking with now (Delenn, the Minbari ambassador) is played by Mire Furlan, who’s (now, at least) best known as The French Woman from Lost.
