This is so difficult for Ivanova. Unlike Nightwatch, she doesn’t give Corwin an ultimatum.
I’m trying to see this from Corwin’s POV. Of course, he’s confused by the whole thing. But imagine being approached by Ivanova and Nightwatch. How could you choose? Who could you trust?
The actor playing Duncan was also in A Clockwork Orange. I was trying to figure out what else I remembered him from — he was in Lifeforce, one of my favorite vampire movies.
Nightwatch was an official part of the government. It would be very difficult for the rank & file military not to trust them on that basis. Let’s face it, Ivanova and the rest are essentially talking about a coup against the current government, which the average person still believes is legitimate.
True. I would hope if push came to shove I would choose the “right” side of a coup.
You only can choose based on the information that’s available to you. And there is no “right” side — there’s the side that wins and the side that doesn’t.
To be honest, it had a very Next Gen feel to it to me. There was the secret alien menace, that turned out to be a wonderful but misunderstood phenomenon in the last few minutes. You could have dropped Geordi and Dr. Crusher right into place without even changing a line of dialogue.
