And the new companion is...

Sylvester McCoy wasn’t exactly one of the better doctors either.

True dat…

I disagree. He was just about the most calculating and ruthless Doctor ever. He committed genocide against the Daleks and Cybermen using Time Lord WMDs. Picked up a companion for the purpose of taking out another of his enemies. Say what you will about him, he got results.

The Seventh Doctor and Ace were far and away my favorites until Ten and Rose came along.

I’ll give you that a couple of their adventures were a tad lame, but most were just outstanding. Silver Nemesis, Curse of Fenric, and Remembrance of the Daleks come immediately to mind. I’m also partial to Battlefield since we get to see the Brigadier in action again.

Silver Nemesis, Curse of Fenric, and Remembrance of the Daleks were all awesome, I’ll agree, but there were some horrid adventures during his run. Paradise Towers, Happiness Patrol, The Greatest Show in the Galaxy… all terrible. Dragonfire was also pretty lame. It seemed like he started to hit his stride in the final season, but was cut off when they didn’t renew the series.

Still, given that I haven’t seen much of the first three doctors, I’d rate the other four in the initial run of Doctor Who thusly:

  1. Tom Baker (duh!)
  2. Colin Baker (in spite of his technicolor dreamcoat, which made me want to puke)
  3. Sylvester McCoy
  4. Peter Davison

I also haven’t seen most of Davison’s episodes, but what I saw was unremarkable.

I want to see a male companion, I wonder if this will ever happen in the new DW?

Billie Piper was only 21 or 22 when she started filming as Rose (who was only supposed to be 19, anyway). So, it may not be as bad as it seems.
And…I gotta agree with David, here. She is a cutie!

Besides, with Matt Smith only being 26, I don’t imagine an actress any older than that would work very well as a companion. (By the by, I Netflixed Ruby in the Smoke to get more of a feel for Matt Smith, and I was impressed! I’m much less apprehensive now about what he’ll do for the role.)

And after now having watched Jekyll (and knowing that Steven Moffat’s previous episodes of Doctor Who all feature among my favorite episodes) I have faith, and my faith will not waver!

It can be argued that the they had a male companion, Captain Jack. He was in 12 episodes and has traveled the end of the Universe with the Doctor (Utopia S03E11). FYI - Christopher Eccleston was only in 13

Do you need one of these:

She’s hot. I like redheads.

(and blondes, brunettes, etc.)

Warning Gutter Ahead

I thought I would resurrect this thread with all the talk of the new Doctor.

She is gutterrific!!!

OK, so I re-watched a lot of the Sylvester McCoy episodes, and I am prepared to eat crow on this. Ace is actually pretty awesome, especially in the final season. I guess my opinion of her was tainted by some of her earlier episodes, in which I was pretty annoyed by her.

of course she’s hot, she’s a redhead.
all red headed people are hot
