A Game of Thrones (HBO)

In honor of tomorrow’s finale (and because I’ve been thinking about it all week after hearing them on A Podcast of Ice and Fire) I’m trying a few recipes from The Inn at the Crossroads today. Well, two of the three that I had planned. The other is waiting until tomorrow since my knee and back hurt.

In a few minutes, I’ll be seeing if my attempt at beef and bacon pie turned out okay! A little later, I’ll be making iced berries and sweet cream (blueberries and raspberries were on sale!) And tomorrow, spiced honey biscuits.

Fair warning, don’t browse that site on an empty stomach. I made that mistake at work the other day and spent a few hours crying bitter tears of “my lunch is a microwavable thing that doesn’t look that good.”

I made their bread a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome. There are so many things I want to try on that site.

For all who wanna (re)live the final scene of music from the 1st season or want to make themselves a picture of how he dragons look like:

I might have to get the soundtrack.

“… several official soundtrack versions of the Game of Thrones main theme.”

yeah, i know why the CGI feels understated… cause I have trouble concentrating on the dragons…

They could’ve shown both, if they went after the book: “…was suckling at her left breast, the green-and-bronze at the right.” Too much??

I’ve been calling it “dragoboobage.” Another acceptable variation is “dracoboobage.”

I am in love with those tarts on that website. I’m not a cook at all, but I’m so tempted to give it a go and try and make them. Maybe this weekend?

droobage? I guess that means I’d refer to the other dragon as dracooch.

Arya aka. Maisie Williams ROCK!! 2nd video from the top regarding her encounter with Yoren: http://www.spoilertv.com/2011/06/game-of-thrones-episode-110-fire-and_22.html

Even in todays day and age, that would be impossible for CGI artists. lol

And the food looks good too.

Heyooooooo!

Where can I watch Game of Thrones? (other than HBO)

Edward Stark chopped off some nightwatch’s head just because he wasn’t supposed to flee the wall in the first episode. and in the last episode he had his own head chopped off.

goes to show, even if it is your job, sometimes more consideration about the circumstances should be taken before chopping someone’s head off…

…Oh Okay

What that’s not even comparable.

hey, don’t confuse me with you reasonableness :stuck_out_tongue:

How I see it, for both Ned and Joffery, they believe they are doing the right thing by chopping someone’s head off and neither of them bothered to get the whole story.

The Nightwatch were running because he escaped from the white walkers. Had Ned even bothered to know why they were running, instead of reciting the rule of Nightwatch in his head, the north would be much better prepared for the coming winter. if he bothered to ask.

Joffery on the other hand made his decision not just because he’s a sociopath. He obviously is a sociopath. But Joffery believed that Ned was trying to take the throne for himself, and if that’s the case, it’s understandable that he would want to set an example of Ned. Only that the rest of the world knows Ned would never wanted the throne for himself, and now all the other families are against him.

Had either of them stopped the “follow the rule” mode for a second and asked “why”. They would be way better informed and make better choices…

Perhaps Ned would tell Robert “I can’t leave, the white walkers might be coming”. Perhaps if Joffery used his brain, he would say “no one would believe Ned wanted the throne for himself, I got what I wanted”.

Yeah but he knew that. He called the dude crazy. Then chopped off his head for forsaking his oath.

oh well then… good job Ned…

Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] (2011)
http://www.amazon.com/Game-Thrones-Complete-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B003Y5HWMW/

It’s available for pre-order, but has no release date. $55 may be a good price because a site says the MSRP is $80.

teehee!

bluray: I never *understood why HBO series are always priced so much higher than other (also quality) tv series, and it takes them forever to go on sale (which is usually when I empty my wallet).

*well, I do, obviously, HBO is a money grubber, they like to think of their shows as superior to other tv shows, yadda, but wouldn’t they just sell more copies (and get more subscribers if people are catching up and whatnot, since they wouldn’t be waiting for a sale to purchase) if the price is more comparable to the market value of a cable season of a tv show?
