I love how Daniel’s pushing for Sam to be in charge of SG-1.
I don’t remember Marines in the SGC.
How perfect that Jack reads Mad magazine while listening to opera. 
I think most of the combat focused teams (as opposed to exploration teams like SG-1 and science focused teams like we see from time to time) are Marines.
Talking about melodrama while listening to opera seems a bit ironic, Jack.

Good call on it being a bad idea to call Teal’c “the Jaffa”.
You know, this is a really good excuse for Jack to go off world.
That was an awesome transition.
Until I noticed the crater in the background, I was going to comment on the area the Edoran Stargate was set up on looking awfully green for being hit by a meteor a few months back.
And another good reference to a previous episode.
And the guy on the DVD screen for this episode was probably cut from this sequence.
Where was the MALP or is SG-1 the follow-up team on this one?
I’m guessing follow up team since Makepeace just referred to previous “intel”.
Yeah, it being Makepeace was obvious. But this wasn’t his first episode, so it’s still a nice bit of continuity.

Awesome effects there.
Not quite sure how the physics of Jack holding the gate open from the other side work, but it was effective from a plot perspective.
And in a later episode, they added a couple more captives to the scene.
This worked well for being thrown together in two weeks.

I like how Daniel got that last little poke in at Jack at the end here.
